Ochai Agbaji, who had an unfortunate fall against the New York Knicks in the first quarter, will not be making a comeback, according to the Toronto Raptors.
Ochai Agbaji is not coming back.
The Toronto Raptors forward stumbled awkwardly while attempting to catch an alley-oop pass from Kelly Olynyk in the first quarter of Wednesday’s game, seemingly injuring his right leg. Josh Hart seemed to touch the 23-year-old in midair and land on his side.
Agbaji lay on the floor for a few minutes while Raptors medical staff treated him near the baseline. Two teammates helped hoist him up and get him to the locker room.
Agbaji walked off the court, appearing unable to exert any pressure on his right leg.
The organisation declared that he was officially ruled out due to a right hip injury.
With multiple injuries already plaguing Toronto, Agbaji was thrown into the starting lineup. Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, Scottie Barnes, and Jakob Poeltl were all declared out against the New York Knicks, and it seems doubtful that Barnes or Poeltl will play again this season.
Barrett and Quickley should not be too far away because they trained on Wednesday. They might make a comeback on Sunday night when Toronto plays the Philadelphia 76ers.
During the trade deadline, Agbaji made his Toronto debut in 20 games before being acquired by the Raptors. He was averaging 7.2 points and 3.4 rebounds going into Wednesday night, while his field goal percentage was 39.7% and his three-point percentage was 24.1%.
In the event that Agbaji is required to miss any time, Toronto’s depth options will be further restricted due to the absence of Jontay Porter, DJ Carton, and Chris Boucher.
