Winterbottom confirms shock Team 18 exit.
Mark Winterbottom has announced that his tenure with Team 18 will come to an end at the conclusion of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship.
The 2015 Supercars champion has been with the team since 2019, claiming their first pole position at Symmons Plains in that same season.
Winterbottom also claimed Team 18’s first ever victory last year in Darwin, and has claimed a further two podiums this year in Melbourne and Darwin.
Winterbottom currently sits 13th in the standings, three positions ahead of new recruit for 2024 David Reynolds.
Winterbottom took to social media earlier this afternoon to share the bombshell news.
“To my supporters, the last 24 hours has been a whirlwind, as I was told that Team 18 signed a different driver for 2025,” said the 2013 Bathurst winner
“I don’t really know what the future holds, I’m still digesting the news, but I know I can hold my head high as a professional sportsman.
“I have given 110% and loved working with the team crew and all the sponsors, you are great people.
“I truly value the support from my family, friends, sponsors and supporters, at a time when I need it most.”
The move is set to be the first of many key moves in the Supercars silly season, with seats also likely up for grabs at Dick Johnson Racing, Erebus Motorsport, and PremiAir Racing, with Winterbottom set to become another key player.
