The best player in the Washington, DC, region, Acaden Lewis, is being pursued by the Kentucky Wildcats. Jasper Johnson, one of the top guards in the class of 2025, has committed to Kentucky, but the Wildcats still want more depth at guard. According to 247 Sports, Lewis is the 33rd-best player in the country in the class of 2025 and the sixth-best combo guard in the class. He has received offers from numerous other programs and has already made official visits to Michigan and North Carolina. He has made informal visits to numerous other programs, including Duke and Syracuse.
There were others who believed that Kentucky’s victory over Johnson would eliminate them from the contest for Lewis; however, that seems not to be the case. The guard is still arranging a formal visit, and Pope has reportedly been in contact with Lewis, according to Jacob Polacheck of Kentucky Sports Radio.
Pope may find use for the 6-foot-2, 170-pound guard, particularly as he looks to bring in fresh talent to Lexington. Pope showed no signs of being a hangover from the team from the previous year. Pope had to start over after John Calipari left, so he looked to the transfer portal for the majority of the talent. The Cats should have a strong, talented, and deep group on defense. However, Pope is retaining in-state talent at Kentucky and recruiting some of the top players for the upcoming seasons, particularly with Johnson and Malachi Moreno in the class of 2025. Kentucky is here to stay and ought to be one of the most prestigious programs in the nation.
