Winnipeg Blue Bombers to sign QBs Jake Dolegala, Bryan Scott
According to a source who spoke with 3DownNation, quarterbacks Bryan Scott and Jake Dolegala are joining the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Dave Naylor of TSN broke the story first. After signing Nathan Rourke, the B.C. Lions released Dolegala in the middle of August. Earlier this year, in a 33-16 loss to the Edmonton Elks, the six-foot-seven, 242-pound quarterback started one game for the squad and completed 14 of 23 pass attempts for 146 yards. In 2023, his second season in the CFL, the Hamburg, New York native started nine games for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He completed 64.8 percent of his throws for 2,641 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. After Trevor Harris sustained a leg injury that ended his season, he went 2–7 as a starter.
The Toronto Argonauts cut Scott in the middle of August after they brought back Chad Kelly. During his team’s Week 4 loss to Montreal, he played in nine games as a backup and completed all five of his pass attempts for 79 yards and a touchdown. The six-foot-two, 220-pound quarterback was an all-around standout at Occidental College, where in 33 games, he ran the ball 158 times for 402 yards and 13 touchdowns and passed for 9,073 yards, 77 touchdowns, and 22 interceptions. He received the Player of the Year award from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as a senior.
This past week, backup quarterback Chris Streveler of the Blue Bombers suffered a long-term injury when he tore three ligaments in his left knee. This season, the dual-threat quarterback went 1-0 as a starter after completing 31 of 52 pass attempts for 343 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. In addition, he has 87 carryouts for 272 yards and 10 touchdowns. After having a bye week, Winnipeg (7-6) will return to play the Edmonton Elks (5-8) on Saturday, September 21. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
