News about Alabama football: Kadyn Proctor’s injury update prior to Wisconsin’s match
There’s some good Alabama football news the day before the first road game for the Crimson Tide.
No. 4 Alabama is set to get its left tackle back.
Kadyn Proctor plans to play against Wisconsin, sources tell AL.com. The sophomore missed the first two games of the season with a shoulder injury. Alabama (2-0) is set to face Wisconsin (2-0) on Saturday (11 a.m. CT, FOX) at Camp Randall Stadium.
“He’s been practicing,” Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said on the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday. “He’s doing well, doing a good job and really was heading in a really good direction right at the very end of last week and turned the corner I think there, and is in a good spot here, done a nice job here in the first two days of practice.”
Proctor played left tackle for the Crimson Tide over the entirety of his rookie campaign in 2023. Following Nick Saban’s retirement, Proctor first transferred to Iowa before deciding to return to Alabama. During preseason training, he regained his starting left tackle position, and he was ready to go into the season opener versus Western Kentucky. He then hurt his shoulder during the warm-ups before the game. He was quickly replaced in the starting lineup for that game by Elijah Pritchett.
At the second game, Pritchett was also battling an injury. That game was against South Florida. Tyler Booker, a left guard, began as left tackle. Geno VanDeMark into the starting lineup at left guard as a result. Against the Bulls, the offensive line had a difficult game overall and was called for several penalties, including holding. In a game where the Crimson Tide battled for a large portion of it, the group was one of the key problems.
Alabama would be able to move Booker back to guard with Proctor returning. Pritchett may be able to play right tackle in the interim. Wilkin Formby and Pritchett were supposed to alternate at right tackle for the first two games. Formby had a difficult game against South Florida, leading the offensive line in fouls committed (four), tying VanDeMark for the lead.
