GREEN BAY—For Sunday’s home opener against the New Orleans Saints, the Packers have classified linebacker Lukas Van Ness (elbow), cornerback Jaire Alexander (back), running back Aaron Jones (hamstring), receiver Christian Watson (hamstring), tackle David Bakhtiari (knee), and tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) as questionable. In addition, Green Bay has ruled out safety Zayne Anderson (hamstring) and guard Elgton Jenkins (knee) for their game against the Saints. Jenkins left the game in the first half on Sunday in Atlanta, so this week he didn’t practice. Neither on Thursday nor on Friday did Anderson practice. Alexander’s ailment, which limited his participation on Friday, is a new one added to the report. “We’ll monitor that and see where he’s at,” head coach Matt LaFleur said following practice on Friday. “His back was acting up a little bit.”
“We’ll monitor that and see where he’s at,” head coach Matt LaFleur said following practice on Friday. “His back was acting up a little bit.” Thursday marked Jones’ limited return to practice after he injured his hamstring at the end of his second touchdown against Chicago in Week 1. On Friday, he was once more restricted.
Watson was back at practice on Friday after a planned absence during Thursday’s padded practice.
“We’re just trying to be as smart as we can with it and go hard for two days and (not) take multiple steps back by doing too much,” Watson said. “We’re trying to do everything that I can to get something positive out of it and try not get as little negative out of it as possible.”
Green Bay didn’t give an injury designation for LB Rashan Gary (knee) and P Daniel Whelan (finger), both of whom are expected to play.
The Saints ruled out former Packers running back Jamaal Williams with a hamstring injury and listed tight end Foster Moreau (ankle) as doubtful. Cornerback Paulson Abedo (hamstring) and safety Ugo Amadi (knee) are questionable. Quarterback Taysom Hill (knee), safety Jordan Howden (finger) and running back Kendre Miller (hamstring) are expected to be available.
