Complete results and timings for the 2024 IRONMAN World Championship following Lucy Charles-Barclay’s DNS and Anne Haug’s DNF

Distress for Haug and LCB Due to a muscular ailment, Britain’s reigning champion Lucy Charles-Barclay was forced to withdraw from the event on Saturday. With that 2019 Kona victory, German legend Anne Haug was now the overwhelming favorite to win a second title. However, Haug had a puncture early in the cycling segment on Sunday, and it was the worst possible time. Anne was out of the race 200 meters after leaving transition due to a massive puncture in her back tire that was virtually unfixable, and there were no mechanics in sight. Further information about this, as well as Haug’s response, may be found here.

Due to that sad turn of events, Laura Philipp of Germany and Kat Matthews of Britain were now the clear favorites to win, and they did so in an exciting race. Laura eventually turned in a stellar final marathon time of 2:44:59 to win her first IRONMAN World Championship. In the meantime, Kat had to settle with yet another fantastic silver after trailing Daniela Ryf home in the postponed 2021 St. George race. American sensation Chelsea Sodaro, who won so brilliantly in Kona in 2022, finished a brave third.

But this is not the whole story. Every professional female finisher from a historic day on the French Riviera is profiled here.
