Cowboys sign Lawton

Karl Lawton, a utility player, has committed to a two-year contract with the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Over the course of nine seasons, the 28-year-old has made appearances in 87 NRL games for the Titans, Warriors, and Sea Eagles.

Over his career, Lawton has primarily played hooker, but he also has a wealth of experience at middle forward and second row. Lawton is from Murwillumbah.

For the Sea Eagles in the first six games of the 2024 season, Lawton has made appearances.

“We’re excited to have a player with Karl’s calibre of experience on board for 2025 and beyond,” stated Michael Luck, general manager of football for the Cowboys.

“He possesses every quality Todd values in a coach: competence, versatility, fitness, and competitiveness.

“We are fortunate to have Reece Robson, a world-class hooker, and several talented dummy halves coming through our junior system. Karl will be a fantastic mentor to our up-and-coming players as well as a wonderful support system for Reece.”
