Light and Love’: Ravens Ex Running Back Alex Collins Dead at 28

Former Baltimore Ravens running back Alex Collins has died at the age of 28.

“With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Alex Collins,” the Ravens said in a statement on Twitter. “Always quick to greet everyone with a smile, he was a genuinely kind person who carried a special joy and passion wherever he went. May Alex always be remembered for the light and love he brought to so many people in his life.”

Collins was driving his motorcycle and crashed into a vehicle on Sunday night in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Collins played two season for Baltimore in 2017 and 2018. The five-year pro ran for 1,384 yards and 13 touchdowns. Collins also played three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks (2016, 2020, 2021)

Seattle drafted Collins in the fifth-round in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at Arkansas.

“Alex was a joy to be around and someone whose light shined brightly,” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said. “I’ll always remember him for being a great teammate who had an uplifting spirit that impacted everyone he encountered. He was also a smart player who ran with unlimited determination, and he contributed to a lot of our success during his time in Baltimore. We send our heartfelt condolences and support to Alex’s family. May he now rest in God’s eternal peace.”
