BREAKING NEWS: Nuggets is planning to…

After trading down, Suns get forward Ryan Dunn with 28th pick.

The Phoenix Suns got some more draft picks and a forward during Wednesday’s first round of the NBA draft.

The team acquired the rights to Virginia forward Ryan Dunn after trading with the Denver Nuggets, who had the 28th overall pick.

The Suns traded down from their original 22nd overall pick, sending that to the Nuggets for the 28th pick, the 56th pick and the second-round picks in 2026 and 2031, the team confirmed after the draft.

Dunn is 21 years old and is 6′8″ with a wingspan of 7′2″.

While he only averaged 8.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game last season, some scouts have said he is the best defender in the 2024 class.

Dunn led the ACC with 2.3 blocks per game and had 1.3 steals per game.

He could have an immediate impact on the team.

Since he’s not much of a scorer, Dunn could be a nice fit for a Suns squad that already has three dynamic scorers in Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, plus a great three-point shooter in Grayson Allen.

With pick No. 22, the Nuggets acquired the rights to DaRon Holmes II. Holmes grew up in Goodyear and attended Millennium High School, where he was the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year for averaging 23.7 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.8 blocks per game as a junior.
