The 2023-2024 season, in a lot of ways, was a win for the New York Knicks.
Sure, they didn’t make it to the NBA Finals, or even the Eastern Conference Finals, but they proved that they have what it takes to compete with some of the best teams in the league.
Injuries slowed them down a bit at the end, but for a while, it seemed like the Knicks were going to go all the way.
With their success in mind, the Knicks have made several moves in the offseason to not only keep the players they want on the roster, but they have not been shy when it comes to adding new talent.
Two examples of this are signing Jalen Brunson to a team-friendly contract extension, as well as making a blockbuster deal to acquire Mikal Bridges.
The Knicks have worked hard to add to this roster when they can, but now that things are looking up, they can afford to be selective.
As Marc Stein recently reported, “The Knicks recently auditioned free agent big man Omer Yurtseven, among others, but did not elect to sign him.”
Yurtseven was viewed as an intriguing player coming into the offseason, someone that teams were going to pursue.
While the Knicks showed interest, it appears that he wasn’t able to do enough to impress them in this workout.
The Knicks are trying to build something special within their building, and they appear to know what they’re looking for to make it happen, and what players will be the best fit.
