We intend to demonstrate that we are not a soft squad by going out there.
The Kentucky Wildcats have suffered three losses this season due to physical outplay.
In those losses to Georgia, Ohio State, and Clemson, the Wildcats were outnumbered, exposed defensively, and never given the opportunity to establish an offensive rhythm.
This has given opponents a formula for their game plans and created a narrative that this Wildcat club is the dreaded “soft.”
Don’t share that with senior forward Ansley Almonor, since Kentucky is trying to silence that narrative and has taken this claim very seriously.
Almonor stated during his preview of Texas A&M on Monday, “We’ve been hearing the chatter about us being a soft team.” “Even though our origins and stories vary, none of us are weak. Our attention was drawn to that.
“As the season progresses, we will demonstrate that we are a formidable team by going out there and proving it.”
The first step in achieving that was defeating a tenacious, hard-charging Mississippi State squad, but more work needs to be done.
Following the Cats’ victory over Mississippi State, Williams remarked, “A lot of people kind of try to say that we were soft from the past few games.” “We tried to alter the storyline going into this game.”
The Wildcats have three top-15 opponents in Texas A&M, Alabama, and Tennessee over the next two weeks, giving them the chance to keep changing that perception.
Put up or shut up, it’s time.
