Maybe Morgantown wasn’t almost heaven for wide receiver Traylon Ray, who committed to transfer to Ole Miss this week.
Ray is a legit downfield threat with 4.4 speed who has amassed seven touchdowns in 22 games at the collegiate level. The former Mountaineer averaged more than 16 yards per catch over his freshman and sophomore year, which according to an Ask Jeeves search I just did is more than is required for a first down.
Ole Miss has a top five nationally ranked transfer class, and Ray is just another weapon for the high-powered Lane Kiffin offense.
The Tallahassee, Fla. native announced his transfer intentions to Oxford via X.
Do you wish to observe this young man in action? You do, of course. The 2023 Duke’s Mayo Bowl is one of the most prominent sporting events in the world, and Ray’s 75-yard run destroyed North Carolina’s defense.
Maybe it’s just me, but Ray is giving me some Jordan Watkins vibes. He’s 6’1” 195 lbs. so not the big bodied workhorse WR in Kiffin’s offense, but a speedy slot option or outside WR who can find space and burn defenses. Here’s another more gritty touchdown against Arizona where our newest wideout works through the Wildcat defense for a score.
