Lauren Putz, a freshman utility player for the Michigan Wolverines softball team, has made a significant impact in her debut season. Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, and a graduate of Xavier College Preparatory, Putz was recognized as the MaxPreps 2024 Arizona Player of the Year and was ranked as the No. 13 overall prospect by Extra Innings Softball .
In the 2025 season, Putz showcased her offensive prowess, notably hitting two home runs in a 9–3 victory over UNC Wilmington, contributing to a perfect weekend for the Wolverines . Her consistent performance earned her spots on both the Softball America and D1Softball Freshman to Watch Lists .
Under the leadership of head coach Bonnie Tholl in her third year, the Wolverines concluded the season with a 39–21 record, clinching the Big Ten tournament championship and advancing to the NCAA Austin Regional . Putz’s impressive freshman campaign has set a strong foundation for her future contributions to Michigan softball.
