A trio of GOP senators are backing an amendment to Senate Republicans’ megabill to tie eligibility for the wind and solar tax credits to the start of a project’s construction — a significant change from the current draft — and to kill an additional tax for those projects in future years.
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) filed an amendment that would echo an earlier proposal to phase down the Inflation Reduction Act’s clean electricity production and investment tax credits for solar and wind generation projects by linking to when projects begin construction.
