Three Oklahoma football players to keep an eye on when they play Auburn on Saturday afternoon.
In Oklahoma football’s Week 5 matchup versus Auburn, there are three Sooners to watch.
This season, No. 21 Oklahoma football is going on the road for the first time when they play Auburn on Saturday afternoon at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The team lost their opening game of the season to Tennessee last weekend. Let’s look at three OU players in particular to watch this season, just like we do every Wednesday of the season.
We will likely never have a player as obvious to watch as this one. Michael Hawkins Jr., a true freshman quarterback, will start his first game on Saturday after taking Jackson Arnold’s spot late in the first half against the Volunteers. Hawkins showed glimpses and orchestrated the Sooners’ finest drives of the game with two late touchdowns, including a quick touchdown pass to Jovantae Barnes, after getting his feet wet and settling in. Brent Venables announced Hawkins as the starting signal-caller going forward on Monday night.
