The third song, “Barry Gibb,” off NYC rapper Kurious’ upcoming album Majician, was made public today. Before his death, MF DOOM, a longtime friend and partner, executive produced the song and album, which was produced by Mono En Stereo.
Kurious sings, “I don’t know if the lyrics relate to this so much, but Barry Gibb from the BeeGees is one of my favorite artists,” on the instantly iconic song. And about the time he lost his last brother, I created this song. He was bereaved of all three of his brothers. And I was writing nonstop after he lost his last brother. Furthermore, he was composing for Kenny Roger, Dolly Parton, and fucking Michael Jackson back when everyone was saying that disco was dead. Nobody really knows, but he writes for insane people. That’s how I felt, too. I write a lot, both for other people and for myself. Therefore, it was merely a salute and homage to him.
His upcoming album, Majician—also the moniker bestowed to him by his contemporaries a century ago—is scheduled for release on October 18th through Metalface Records and Rhymesayers Entertainment. The captivating fusion of technical prowess and contemplation validates the legacy he has long earned. Pre-order exclusive stuff, CDs, cassettes, and vinyl at gasdrawls.com and rhymesayers.com.
