Running back Chase Edmonds has been re-signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a one-year contract, meaning that the team is keeping another of their own free agents, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
When healthy last season, Edmonds served as starting Rachaad White’s main backup. Based on his one-year deal, he will likely return in 2024 for a similar role.
Although Edmonds is a more swift and elusive back than White, it wouldn’t be shocking if Tampa Bay continued to target a power back for short-yardage situations. This move probably eliminates the Bucs from consideration for spending an early-round pick on a No. 2 running back to partner with White.
