Smiling Verstappen after P2 in Canada: ‘This is what I’m signing for’
Max Verstappen set the same time as George Russell, but set that time later and therefore starts from P2.
”It is what it is. We just had a good qualifying. The whole weekend was a bit tricky for us. A P2 I would sign for that. Before qualifying I had definitely signed for that. That it was so close together makes it very interesting for tomorrow (Sunday),” said Verstappen immediately after qualifying.
This is how Verstappen reacted to his P2
”I also felt good in Monaco, but that was just not our track. This weekend we again did not have the best build-up towards today, but with the tyres it will be an interesting race tomorrow. How they are going to hold up and the weather as well. The rain keeps coming back, so hopefully that will be a lot of fun.”
Verstappen will start the Grand Prix from second place. Behind Russell and Verstappen are the two McLarens, who went out earlier for a fast lap using different tactics. That seems to have paid off.
