Manchester City Injury News And Expected Return Dates: Updates On Phil Foden, Savinho And Oscar Bobb.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says Phil Foden is likely to withdraw from the England squad due to a virus.
The attacking midfielder did not feature during the 3-1 win over West Ham at the weekend and Guardiola claims he is not expected to be fit for the Three Lions’ two Nations League games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland:
“I think he will not go, but I don’t know. He doesn’t feel well – otherwise, he would be here. But like I said before, national teams decide.”
Asked to explain further why Foden won’t be able to link up with his country, Guardiola replied:
“He doesn’t feel good. It’s his stomach, a little, little virus. Some people said antibiotics and so on will be fine.”
Expected Return Date – Saturday 14th September v Brentford
Savinho was another surprise absentee from the matchday squad for the West Ham fixture on Saturday evening.
It is believed that the knee problem, which caused the Brazilian issues during the opening-day victory over Chelsea, has returned.
Speaking before the Hammers’ match, Guardiola said that Savinho simply didn’t feel right and he hoped to have the player back in contention after the international break.
With City playing Brentford, Inter Milan and Arsenal in the space of eight days following the return of club football, fans will be keen to see him available again as soon as possible.
Expected Return Date – Saturday 14th September v Brentford
Oscar Bobb underwent surgery on a fractured leg last month. The Norwegian picked up the injury in training before the opening league game against Chelsea.
The winger is set to be sidelined for between three and four months, with a comeback during the Christmas period likely.
Guardiola opted against replacing him in the transfer market, which demonstrates the faith he has in the 21-year-old’s abilities.
