It seems like no one can catch a break lately. Everyone is either getting sick, hurting themselves, splitting up or insert any other shitty thing that can happen to a band. Hard rock oldies Scorpions are the latest to deal with some bullshit, unfortunately having to cancel five shows they were supposed to do in their home country of Germany. The reason why? Well, one of them mofos got hurt.
The mofo in question: guitarist Mathias Jabs. The injury: I have no idea but they described it as one that “requires surgery and subsequent rehabilitation.” Big yikes. They took to their social media pages a few days ago to announce the cancellations, only really referring to the incident as an accident.
Here’s their statement: “We deeply regret, especially Matthias Jabs, that due to the accident of our friend and SCORPIONS lead guitarist, the five concerts on our German tour cannot take place in September as planned and we will work closely with the tour organizer to announce new information as soon as possible. We kindly ask for your understanding from all our fans, all the Rock Believers in Germany who were looking forward to the shows with us.” It’s not yet known if those German dates, which were a part of their “Love at First Sting” 40th anniversary tour, will be rescheduled. Either way, we hope Jabs is alright and makes a speedy recovery. He has to, because he’s been in the band since 1978 and is a key component in what makes the band who they are. And as someone who is incredibly nosey, I really want to know exactly what that accident was. The cancelled dates: Sept. 11 – Nuremberg, Germany @ Arena Nurnberger Versicherung Sept. 13 – Hamburg, Germany @ Barclays Arena Sept. 15 – Leipzig, Germany @ Quarterback Immobilien Arena Sept. 18 – Cologne, Germany @ LANXESS Arena Sept. 20 – Frankfurt, Germany @ Festhalle
