Ahmaad Galloway, a former running back for the Alabama Crimson Tide, passed away in Missouri on Monday at the age of 42, according to WVTM.
Principal Susan Reid told the network, “We knew something might be wrong because Ahmaad was always on time and very responsible.”
Since nothing was disturbed at Ahmaad’s residence, we believe there may have been a medical problem.
“The medical examiner is working to find out how Ahmaad died.”
Once standout running back Shaun Alexander left Alabama for the NFL in 1999, Galloway took on a more significant role at the position.
During his sophomore and junior seasons, Galloway ran for 1,540 yards and 13 touchdowns combined; however, an injury hindered him in his senior year.
In 2000, he ran for 659 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging a career-high 5.1 yards per carry. In 2001, he ran for 881 yards and six touchdowns.
Galloway scored four times in four games in 2002 but sustained a season-ending knee injury in a game against Southern Miss.
Denver selected Galloway in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL Draft and spent some time in NFL Europe with the Scottish Claymores and Frankfurt Galaxy before leaving football in 2005.
