Man City pick preferred Rodri replacement but January deal will cost them £75m
Manchester City have been rocked by the news that Rodri will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL and are working on signing a replacement.
Nicolo Barella of Inter Milan is Manchester City’s first pick to take Rodri’s place in the midfield due to injury. Often regarded as the most complete center midfield player in the world, Rodri will miss the remainder of the season due to surgery to repair a ruptured ACL he suffered during a game against Arsenal.
Barella, 27, has become the front-runner to cover for Rodri in the absence of the latter. The Serie A star was already on Pep Guardiola’s radar at City prior to Rodri’s terrible injury on Sunday. Just twelve days ago, Barella, an Italian international with fifty-seven caps, made a great show during Inter’s goalless Champions League match at the Etihad.
Guardiola was so impressed with his performance that he was praising the club’s football hierarchy.
