In MotoGP, Casey Stoner remains a highly likable and captivating figure, and he is still a dynamic presence in the paddock today. In an intriguing and inquisitive discussion, the Australian, who has witnessed some spectacular confrontations on the track, was asked to sum up certain riders (and former riders) in one word.
Starting with Dani Pedrosa, Stoner called the Frenchman “talented” and Fabio Quartararo “resilient,” according to Moto.it.
It was harder to describe Andrea Iannone, who is now in the WSBK and will make a sporadic comeback to MotoGP in 2024. Stoner asked the Italian, “What’s the word I’m looking for?” I’m having trouble coming up with a word. It’s more “free” on the track, I guess, rather than loose. What about his countryman, Jack Miller? He made a direct allusion to the style of the current Pramac Racing rider when he said, “A bit free, I suppose.”
Following him were Andrea Dovizioso, whom he described as “calculating,” Mick Doohan, whom he viewed as “stubborn,” and Pecco Bagnaia, whom he described as “similar to Dovi but more thoughtful.”
Marc Márquez was unable to be excluded, and according to Stoner, Rossi is “cunning,” while the Spaniard is “similar to Dani, incredibly talented.”
What about himself? “I guess I’m taking calculations too.”
